A short post I put on X election night went viral in a hurry. As of this writing, it has about 274,000 views, 27,300 likes, 2,700 reposts, 719 replies, and 148 quote posts. Here is what I wrote:

You can also read it on X here.

The numbers are not the story. The replies are. Hundreds of people piled on with the same anger: Republicans were handed the Senate, the House, the Supreme Court, and the White House, and a lot of the people who voted for them feel like they got nothing for it.

What People Are Saying

@Texan6585 put it in two words: "Absolutely nothing." @Charlot71406055 wrote, "No they did something..they made money off us." @dellakeister said, "Same as his 1st term when he had both. They accomplished nothing."

@LandOfTheFree_1 blamed the upper chamber by name: "***The SENATE did nothing with it. Thune and his goons." @KingRocket1 wrote, "I will never understand how they did nothing. It proves they are all grifters- party doesn't matter." @Eirerogue00 said it should be "carved into National GOP HQ. Maddeningly true on all counts."

@TheVirtueSigna2 said, "This proves 99% of them are in on it." @ExumJamie39076 wrote that they "lost their jobs" and added, "I don't keep electing people that don't represent my interests. I'll go fishing instead." @MattSybrant6563 summed up the fury this way, cleaned up for print: "Nothing absolutely nothing they did nothing they didn't do a ---- thing. Absolutely nothing for two ---- years."

A quote-post from @shofar_mountain, shared around the thread, put it in Bible terms: "When one is given much, much is expected. They failed. Miserably."

A Disturbance in the Force

Under my own post I also replied with a meme image of a hooded figure in an "AMERICA FIRST" hat and the line, "Tonight there has been a disturbance in the force…" (that reply is here). The joke writes itself. A lot of conservatives feel like the party they backed turned to the dark side of doing nothing.

When God Judges a Nation, He Gives Them Wicked Rulers

Here is the part a lot of Christians do not want to hear. Sometimes the problem is not only that our politicians failed us. Sometimes God Himself is judging a nation, and one of the ways He does that is by giving them the rulers they deserve.

Isaiah said it plainly: "And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them" (Isaiah 3:4). A few verses later he adds, "As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them" (Isaiah 3:12). That is not a compliment. That is a judgment. When a people turn from God, He hands them weak, foolish, and wicked leadership.

Solomon said the same thing. "For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof" (Proverbs 28:2). And, "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn" (Proverbs 29:2). Hosea records God's own words about Israel's king: "I gave thee a king in mine anger, and took him away in my wrath" (Hosea 13:11). Daniel reminds us that "the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men" (Daniel 4:17). Paul agrees: "the powers that be are ordained of God" (Romans 13:1).

So if Republicans got every branch of government and still did nothing, Bible believing Christians should ask a harder question than "Why didn't they fight?" We should ask whether America is under judgment, and whether we ourselves have been trusting a party to save us instead of repenting. Political victories without repentance will not save a nation. "Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people" (Proverbs 14:34).

The answer is not a better slogan or a better candidate alone. The answer is turning back to God. Keep voting. Keep praying. But put your hope where it belongs.

What the Bible Says About Empty Promises

Bible believing Christians should not be shocked. "Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help" (Psalm 146:3). "It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes" (Psalm 118:9). And yes, "For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required" (Luke 12:48).

That does not mean we stop voting or stop praying "for kings, and for all that are in authority" (1 Timothy 2:1-2). It means we stop treating a party like a saviour. When leaders are given power and waste it, God's people have every right to say so out loud. My post went viral because a lot of people already knew it was true.
